Convening
In addition to its work as a grantmaker, the Fund for Folk Culture periodically convenes people to discuss topics of interest to the field, including making common cause with other fields. Our gatherings provide networking opportunities that connect traditional artists and others engaged in cultural conservation work to one another and to people from allied sectors such as community and economic development, the environmental and social justice movements, private philanthropy, social policy research and government. FFC convenings teach our organization how to do its work better, and sometimes point the way to new areas of endeavor. In most cases, our gatherings result in publicly accessible communications (please visit the Research and Publications section of this website for more detail).
