Federal Government Funding Resources You can access information about federal funding from specific agency websites. The most common sources of support for folk arts and traditional culture funding are the following: National Endowment for the
Arts (NEA) National Endowment for the
Humanities (NEH) Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) A number of other federal agencies, normally not associated with arts or culture funding, administer programs that may support arts-related activity. These agencies include the Department of Agriculture, Department of Transportation and Department of Commerce. For a descriptive listing of over 100 federally-funded grant opportunities, go to the NEA website (listed above) and look under “Cultural Funding: Federal Opportunities.” These same listings are also found in the FFC’s publication, Culture and Commerce: Traditional Arts in Economic Development.
